Starting with breakfast since it is the most important meal of the day we have Gallo Pinto(spotted rooster) which comes from the rice being white rice with pintos beans and vegetables being mixed in to it. Along with the Gallo pinto you have eggs however you may like them, avocado, fried plantains toast and ham. The most that this breakfast is going to cost around $3-5, now that is a good price for all of this great food

For lunch you will be having casado.Like the Gallo Pinto it again consists of rice and beans served side by side instead of mixed. There will usually be some type of meat like carne asada, fish, pork chop, or chicken and a salad to round out the dish. There may also be some extras like fried plantain patacones or maduro, a slice of white cheese, and/or corn tortillas in accompaniment. Salsa Lizano is ubiquitous as a condiment and as an ingredient in cooking various dishes, including gallo pinto. In many family gatherings or for special occasions is very common to prepare Arroz con Pollo (rice with chicken) accompanied with a Russian salad, a salad made with beets, potatoes, hard boiled eggs and mayo. For this incredible lunch you should at the most bring $5-7 again these are some great prices.

Next on the list for dinner you will be treated to Arroz con Pollo (rice with chicken) accompanied with a Russian salad, a salad made with beets, potatoes, hard boiled eggs and mayo. This dish comes in three different variations you can have it regular, you can be bold and try the mild-hot( id prefer this one), or you could be insane and try the one made with the pure capsaicin the worlds hottest pepper there is( of course you do sign a waver saying they are not responsible for any damages that occur). The typical dinner in Costa Rica is very similar to the lunch both in price and in food, but if you want a change of pace, often pizza, pasta, steak, roasted chicken and fish offered in both typical and international restaurants, ranging in from $8-15 per person

Some snacks to enjoy while you are in Costa Rica are stuffed plantains, arreglados are a little meat filled sandwiches, as are the popular tortas that are commonly served on tiny little rolls with a bit of salad tucked into them. Other snacks such as the tacos, tamales and empanadas (turnovers) are also quite common and favorites in the cuisine of Costa Rica. Gallos are perhaps by far the most popular snacks that you will find in the cuisine of Costa Rica.
